The International Business School, part of Hanzehogeschool Groningen, is looking for several new colleagues in the role of Lecturer-researcher International Business School (0.6-1.0 FTE).
What you will do
As a lecturer-researcher you will, develop educational and research activities. Especifically, you will coach our students during their international internship, graduation, and their study career. You will help them with their personal development and from your expertise you will guide the students in conducting practical assignments and conducting applied research in the context of international business. You will be involved in projects (research or professional engagement) which contribute to the mission and vision of IBS. Associated to all the tasks you also are responsible and accountable for your administrative work.
From your own expertise you transfer your knowledge to the students. You teach them how they can have impact while respecting their surroundings (people, culture, environment). As an expert by experience, you make the connection with business and make use of your own international network. You provide targeted instruction at various levels and offer varied and effective learning methods in accordance with learning needs. You identify and analyze developments within your field and apply this in your lessons. You also translate your acquired knowledge into teaching by incorporating it into program components and contribute to the acquisition of research assignments from the field. In addition, you evaluate and monitor the progress, quality, and quantity of teaching. As a team member you work together on collective assignments and actively seek feedback and feedforward for personal and team development.
You teach in an effective and structured manner, applying different behavioral styles and skills. You have strong social skills, communicate easily and are pleasant to work with and collaborate with. You work well under pressure and ensure proper planning, control, and implementation. You have a collegial attitude and openness to work in multicultural environment. You have your own vision on teaching and applied research (with a view to further educational development) and can easily work on both hard and soft aspects, but are able to adjust to the IBS visions and models of working. Furthermore, you are an open-minded and independent collaborator with a sense of humor who appreciates cultural diversity.
We are looking for a lecturer-researchers who have knowledge of: (International) Marketing, Supply Chain Management, Finance and Accounting, Business, and IT, HRM, Digital Marketing and Innovation Management, Entrepreneurship. In addition, you have an affinity with (one or more) of the following subject areas: economics, project management, business research (teaching and implementation), ethics or corporate social responsibility and sustainability. We have room for several new colleagues (total of 3.0 FTE) with a minimum commitment of 0.6 FTE desired. Possessing a completed PhD or being actively engaged in a PhD program is considered an asset.
What else do you bring?
- A completed relevant master’s degree and more than 3 years of practical experience.
- Knowledge and experience with innovation in education and curricular development.
- Knowledge and experience with communities of learning.
- Knowledge and experience with engaging students.
- Strongly developed skills in English (C1 level).
In order to prepare business professionals with a global mindset, who are ready to add value to business and society the International Business School (IBS) offers the following English-taught programmes: International Business (IB), 3- and 4-year bachelor programmes, Master in International Business & Management (MBA) and a Master of Interdisciplinary Business Professional (MSc). With around 1,500 students from all over the world and over one hundred employees with relevant international experience, the most noticeable characteristic of IBS is its international atmosphere.
You will be engaged in the bachelor education and allocated to a team and specific Head of Education as hierarchical superior. The language of communication within IBS is English.

Terms of employment
- A year contract with the possibility of extension. The hire date is September 1, 2023. - A gross monthly salary of minimum € 3,663 and maximum € 5,332 for a full-time appointment and in accordance with the CAO-HBO (scale 11, lecturer-researcher A). - A vacation allowance of 8%, a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and a maximum of over 53 vacation days per year. - Flexibility in working hours where we, together with you, look for a good work-life balance. - An extensive package of training and course opportunities and thus the chance to continue to develop within your field.
