Project Overview
IonIQs is developing electro-membrane technology to improve lithium refining efficiency. Current conventional processes lead to 30β70% lithium loss and high water usage. This project focuses on optimizing lithium recovery from waste streams and improving process sustainability.
Your Role
As an intern, you will work with an automated laboratory setup as a precursor to our mobile pilot systems. You will:
- Operate and monitor electrochemical systems with different electrode and membrane configurations
- Adjust key parameters (voltage, current, flow rate)
- Analyze effects on lithium salt purity
- Collect and interpret experimental data for process optimization
- Support selection of optimal operating conditions for pilot scale
Learning Outcomes
- Hands-on experience with electrochemical testing and lab automation
- Understanding of membrane-based ion separation
- Insight into scale-up from lab to pilot systems
- Exposure to sustainable lithium refining technologies
Your Profile
- Bachelorβs or Masterβs student in the Netherlands in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Water Technology, Chemistry, or related field (Mandatory)
- Interest/prior experience in electrochemistry and membrane technologies
- Curious, motivated, and interested in R&D environments
- Basic knowledge water treatment and good English communication skills
