Internationals help get to know the cycling culture

Groningen is the cycling capital of the Netherlands, but for internationals, getting on a bike can still be intimidating. That is why International Welcome Center North (IWCN) organizes a Rules of the Road workshop approximately twice a year, where we help internationals become comfortable on a bicycle. During this workshop, we tell internationals more about Dutch traffic rules, take them out on the road, and help them with their first few meters on a bike.

In addition, we offer one-on-one cycling lessons for international students who need extra attention to improve their cycling skills. As a volunteer, you will teach someone how to cycle during 4 to 5 lessons. The lessons usually take place once a week at a time that suits both the volunteer and the student. You will determine the location and time together. The organization is always available for questions and support.

Would you enjoy teaching internationals how to ride a bike, helping them understand traffic rules and signs, and introducing them to fun destinations in the province? Do you speak good English and would you enjoy meeting the city's foreign residents? Then sign up!
