Materials and Corrosion Engineer

The Material and Corrosion Engineering role provides critical engineering support to the NAM Production units and Modification teams. As key member of diverse and multidisciplinary group, you will contribute technical expertise in the design, selection, specification, performance, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems spanning the full value chain from wells to sales. The team works closely with field operations, maintenance and project groups. The Engineers supporting the assets are coβlocated within agile support squads, driving topβquartile performance in integrity and production reliability. The scope of responsibility is wideβranging, covering downhole well applications, structures, topsides and pipelines. Strong emphasis is placed on delivering results, whilst maintaining the highest standards of HSSE and technical integrity. Cost, schedule, and quality remain essential success factors supported by effective leadership, teamwork and cultivation of strong working relationships.
What Will You Do
The role is responsible for performing and sustaining corrosion management across the NL production units. This includes evaluating degradation threats to asset condition, assessing inspection data and delivering timely solutions to issues that may impact safety, integrity, reliability or availability.
- You are key contributor and member of the team that provides the following services to the respective Production Units and Projects and Turnarounds
- You will provide indirect leadership in the squad assigned, but also in the coaching of other staff to build Materials and Corrosion Engineering awareness in the working interfaces
- You will drive collaboration between the Engineering chapters and production units/assets in conjunction with the squad leads, where it is to be ensured that the longer terms vision of sustainable equipment performance in embedded in the day-to-day decision making
What We Need from You
- Master's or Bachelor's Degree in metallurgy, material science, chemical engineering or related discipline or HNC/HND level with adequate relevant practical experience will be considered
- Provide expertise in the areas of material selection, corrosion management, corrosion monitoring, failure analysis, welding, fabric maintenance, cathodic protection
- Provides timely advice on matters of specification, design, selection, procurement, application and maintenance
- Technical Expert on all Materials & Corrosion matters relating the design, selection, specification and performance of equipment.
- Deliver Engineering solutions to enable effective operations, Maintenance & Projects are Fit-for-Purpose/Fit for Future
- Strong interfacing with Risk Based Inspection; maintain integrity of company assets of all ages with no compromise on safety and within budget limitations
- Evaluation of asset condition, inspection data and information to provide in time solutions to those conditions threatening integrity, reliability or availability
- Technical support to Fabric Maintenance team and liaison with the other disciplines
- Interface with Discipline Technical Authorities
- Relevant and demonstrable in-depth Materials and Corrosion knowledge with substantial relevant experience within the oil and gas industry. Experience within operating assets and offshore assets is preferred
- In depth knowledge of corrosion and degradation mechanism and understanding of corrosion management methods and processes. Good knowledge of functionality and use with Risk Based safety and integrity management systems
- Knowledge of functionality and use of supportive systems such as RBI, SAP and credible understanding of Inspection and Welding Techniques. Demonstratable field engineering support experience, including managing change
- Effective organisational skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously and be effective team player. Taking responsibility and ownership, result oriented - able to deliver self and through others
- Learner mindset: A habit of gaining insights from others and openly sharing of ideas and knowledge
- Experience with maintenance and integrity management systems is preferred. Effective communication skills, stakeholder management and commercial mindset with high degree of autonomy is required
On 1st June 2026 NAM will operate as Onshore Land plus offshore Ameland Westgate.Β The role is part of Central Engineering team in the Mechanical Engineering Chapter. This specific role is supporting assets in South (NL) and as such NL-based local position.
The Onshore assets (North and South) cover all onshore oil and gas fields including the small gas fields and underground gas storages. The Onshore Asset is characterized by a combination extensive infrastructure and large and diverse number of facilities (150+ locations) for the Land fields. Many of the fields and facilities are in mature/late field life stage at the same time the asset is continuously bringing new fields on-stream with innovative development concepts.
