IKEA reaches millions of hearts and homes all over the world. And it all began in a small Swedish town in the 1940s, with an enterprising boy who hoped to be able to create a better life for people everywhere.
BILLY, KLIPPAN, ÖLGA and IVAR. Almost every Dutchman knows these icons of Swedish functional and affordable design. At the end of the 1970s, IKEA opened its first store in the Netherlands. Now, 40 years later, 13 stores have been opened for customers to visit.
We have a passion for life at home. Our culture was born out of enthusiasm, togetherness and an ‘on the go’ attitude. We are optimists and constantly looking for new and better ways to do things. From designing a rocking chair that fits in a flat pack, to making LED lamps that are affordable for everyone. Our vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people – for customers, but also for our co-workers and the people who work for our suppliers.
