VentureClass this month brings you a life-saving idea from a physician who chose to pursue entrepreneurship in his mission to optimise bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). When someone experiences cardiac arrest, swift and appropriate action from bystanders can be the difference between life and death. Though the availability of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in public places has seen an increase in survival rates, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is not as effective as it could be. With 25 years of experience in bystander CPR research, Harry Palsma, founder and CEO of SimCPR, saw the need for improved training and a device to help deliver the accuracy and quality of resuscitation needed. In response, he developed the SimCPR.

About SimCPR

SimCPR (simulation CPR) is a low-cost software for upgrading CPR training results. Worn as a wristband while undertaking CPR training, the SimCPR device allows the trainee to accurately measure their performance on a training manikin: The SimCPR wristband is an easy and effective training tool for improving CPR quality; the Smart CPR Trainer app provides CPR feedback to optimise the depth and rate of chest compressions.
