Lab Assistant

Lab Assistant at Osito Europe's office in Groningen. Please apply as soon as possible. We will be interviewing from the 18th August onwards and the chosen candidate can begin immediately.

• 8-16 hrs per week
• Paid hourly – 16 Euro per hour (negotiable for the right candidate)

Osito Coffee (specialty coffee exporter and importer) is looking for a new team member to manage the internal and external coffee sampling. This role involves two to three partial day shifts, preparing coffee samples for shipment and tastings. If you are interested to learn more about coffee and get exposure to the green coffee trading, sensory and roasting environment, this is a great opportunity.

What are the requirements of the role:

• Maintain a clean, orderly and efficient workspace for preparation of samples.
• Ensure there is sufficient sample material for regular customer and internal sample requests.
• Ensure there is sufficient packaging materials for orders.
• Prepare roasted and green coffee samples for dispatch to clients.
• Arrange dispatch and collection of order.
• Run moisture and water activity tests on coffees to evaluate their quality.
• Roast samples for internal tastings (i.e. coffee cuppings).
• Basic spreadsheet management to ensure clients are kept up to date on the shipment of their samples and that data is collected and inputted into Osito’s sample management systems.

About you:

We expect the candidate to be interested and excited about specialty coffee, to be able to work independently and to be diligent and detail oriented in how they work and what they do. You will be working directly with the Director of Osito’s European offices and will report directly to him.
