Senior Scientist Flow Chemistry

The role

For our Groningen location Symeres is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Flow Chemist to join our dynamic team of experts. The successful candidate will take a leading role in advancing our flow chemistry capabilities, driving innovation, and ensuring optimal equipment management. This position is bench-on and requires hands-on expertise in flow chemistry, automation, and preferably in inline analysis. You will report directly to the Team Leader of Innovation and Process Research and Development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of flow chemistry processes.
• Collaborate with a team of flow chemistry experts to deliver innovative solutions.
• Operate and maintain advanced flow chemistry equipment, ensuring high standards of safety and reliability.
• Implement automation strategies to enhance process efficiency and reproducibility.
• Continually strive for process innovation and contribute to ongoing research projects.
• Train and mentor junior team members in flow chemistry techniques and best practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in flow chemistry. PhD+2y or MSc+5y
• Proven expertise in flow process development, automation, and inline analytical methods.
• Familiarity with advanced flow reactors and related instrumentation.
• Knowledge of process scale-up and development.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of innovative thinking.
• Experience with equipment management and maintenance in a laboratory setting.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Fluency in English: written & verbal
• Eligible to work in the Netherlands
