Professor of Practice of Sustainability Accounting
The board of the Faculty of Economics and Business wishes to appoint a Professor of Practice of Sustainability Accounting.
The Professor of Practice will be appointed in the Department of Accounting and Auditing in the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen. The Professor of Practice will work closely with the professors responsible for education in Bachelor, (executive) Master, and executive programs, research, and societal impact with regards to Sustainability Accounting.
The Department of Accounting and Auditing focuses on management accounting and control; internal control over accounting information systems; corporate governance and law; corporate reporting (financial and non-financial); and auditing and assurance.
The area of expertise of the Professor of Practice includes the practice of sustainability accounting and reporting (which may also include assurance over sustainability reporting). In addition, the professor connects and integrates accounting, control, governance, and auditing specifically from the perspective of their value for Sustainability Accounting and, conversely, the impact of Sustainability Accounting on these areas. The Professor of Practice focuses on the departmentās teaching, business development, and practice oriented research in the field of Sustainability Accounting and within FEBās strategic theme āFuture Prosperity & Sustainabilityā (Strategic Plan 2021-2026).
Because education and research in the Department of Accounting and Auditing are to a certain extent professional- and practice-oriented, the Faculty of Economics and Business considers it important that its faculty represents Professors of Practice in main areas of accountancy. The Professor of Practice forms a bridge between science and practice and is a knowledge authority in the Dutch market of Sustainability Accounting. The Professor of Practice is expected to maintain a close relationship with the Dutch and international professional field and oversight bodies and to have a key role in the further business development of the range of (executive) education, in knowledge exchange and research, and in the relevant public debate.
