Concept Designer (32-40 hr)
Are you an experienced Ship Designer/Naval Architect who can create concept designs on your own? Can you collaborate with fellow designers, engineers, and project managers to bring innovative vessel concepts to life? Then we are looking for you as our new Concept Designer.
As a Concept Designer at Conoship International…
You will play a pivotal role in shaping innovative and future-proof vessel concepts that align with both client needs and industry trends. You can lead a team of designers, structural engineers and maritime engineers to develop and realise a full concept design of various vessel types such as General Cargo, Tankers, Dredgers, Offshore vessels, Ro-Ro vessels and/or specials. Depending on the scope of the project, you will carry out the design activities yourself or supervise and coordinate a team of designers.
Your Main responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with multifunctional teams to understand client requirements and project objectives.
- Create and develop innovative ship design concepts.
- Work with design software, such as PIAS, AutoCAD, and Rhino to produce sketches, renderings, and 3D models of vessel concepts.
- Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions, providing creative input to enhance concepts.
- Carry out stability and weight calculations.
- Carry out speed power calculations.
- Create 2D drawings, such as general arrangement plans.
- Stay updated on industry trends, and design innovations within the maritime sector.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Who are you?
Please note: you must be an EU national or must possess the right to work in the Netherlands currently.
- You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- You have proven experience in conceptual ship design for various types of vessels.
- You have experience with design software tools, such as PIAS, AutoCAD, and Rhino.
- You have a good knowledge of naval architecture principles, ship systems and marine engineering concepts.
- You have strong artistic and visualization skills, including the ability to communicate design ideas through sketches and renderings.
- You have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
