Research technician in organic and molecular chemistry

We are looking for a candidate with:
- HBO degree (or equivalent) in Organic Chemistry or a related field.
- Experience with operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Experience with training and supporting students in the laboratory.
- Strong interpersonal skills, to interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds and personalities.
- Interested in new developments in laboratory technology.
- Proactive, independent, and service-oriented working style.
- Strong communication skills in Dutch and English.
- Programming or coding skills are an advantage.
As a research technician in organic and molecular chemistry, you will be in charge of:
- General laboratory infrastructure management, including safety, chemical handling, and electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Technical support for experimental chemistry (including high-pressure reactions such as hydrogenation) and daily laboratory activities.
- Purchase, installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Coordination with suppliers, service engineers, and institutional support services.
- Training and onboarding of students in the safe and correct use of laboratory equipment and handling of chemicals.
The Stratingh Institute for Chemistry is a research Institute at the Faculty of Science and Engineering of the University of Groningen.
The mission of the Stratingh Institute of Chemistry is to perform excellent research and teaching in molecular research and teaching in molecular and supramolecular chemistry. Core activities in the chemical science such as bio-organic chemistry, organic chemistry, molecular inorganic chemistry and molecular materials chemistry are embedded in the Institute. The research programme is focused on synthesis, catalysis, functional materials, bio-organic chemistry/chemical biology and systems chemistry/complex molecular systems.
