Vermilion Energy Netherlands B.V. (Vermilion) is a Dutch company that started operations in 2004. We are active in small fields gas production. The natural gas we extract is provided to Dutch residential and business customers. Vermilion has grown into a reliable employer in the Netherlands since inception, with in total, more than one hundred people currently working for us. This includes employees and contractors.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Finance Manager for our Netherlands Business Unit (NBU).  In this role you will be an integral part and responsible for a small finance team of 5-7 co-workers.  In addition, you will be accountable for planning, organizing, and executing the accounting systems and standards for the Netherlands business unit and report directly to the Managing Director of the NBU.

The Finance Manager function will be required to work from both our Harlingen and Amsterdam offices.

What you will do:

In addition to what is described above, the position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Direct the accounting function, including preparing and coordinating budgets and forecasts, maintaining books of account and timely monthly reporting of results of operations.
  • Financial and administrative leadership. Responsible for the strategic planning, goal setting and alignment of work for the accounting team.
  • Implementation and maintenance of appropriate controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Function as a liaison between Vermilion Energy Inc. (Canada) and auditing consultants,
  • General financial, joint venture and production accounting and royalty activities.
  • Accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Cash management and treasury functions for NBU and subsidiaries.
  • Liaise with the Head Office and tax advisors to ensure tax planning is complementary with Vermilion’s global tax strategy.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of acquisition and divestment strategies and transactions in the Netherlands and Germany.
  • Liaison with NBU’s Joint-Venture Partners to optimize relationships and agreements, providing updated budgets and projects.
  • Develop alternative energy strategies for the NBU (reuse/repurpose assets).
  • Provide support to the HR group to ensure legal and tax compliance with payrolling and administration for salaries
  • Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director

 

What you will bring:

  • HBO/University, preferably in Bedrijfseconomie or Accountancy
  • 7-10 years working experience in Finance (preferably Oil and Gas)
  • Supervisory and team leading experience required
  • Big 4 or audit experience an asset
  • Microsoft/Excel, Power BI, SAP S/4 Hana
  • Both written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch is an asset because you will also report to the EVP & CFO in Canada.
  • Strong attention to detail, able to make deadlines
  • Proactive and a team player, self-starter and works well independently
