The Founded in the North foundation, is committed to strengthening the northern startup ecosystem with a founder focused and data driven approach. We organize a network of support around the crucial life stages and milestones of startups. We build on our own experiences, existing initiatives and (inter)national best practices to cultivate a thriving startup community.
About the role
The Founded in the North Foundation is responsible for the implementation of the Founded in the North program. Besides implementing the collective program, it is the platform for the joint further development of the northern startup and scale-up ecosystem. Founded acts as a representative of the Northern Netherlands within the startup community on both a national and international level.
As private lead you form the management of Founded, together with the public lead. Together you are responsible for leading the team of 15 colleagues. As private lead you are the face and connecting force behind the organization, with a clear vision on strengthening the ecosystem, both within the region and beyond.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- strategy development and implementation: Develop and implement the long-term strategy that aligns with the goals of the foundation;
- program and project management: Oversee and drive programs and projects aimed at supporting startups, scale-ups the ecosystem;
- network development and maintenance: Building and maintaining the network of stakeholders within the startup and scale-up ecosystem, both locally and (inter)nationally;
- organization development: Setting up effective and efficient operations of a focused, decisive and future-proof organization;
- financial management: (Co)responsible for the financial management of the organization, including budget planning, financial reporting and ensuring financial health;
- reporting: (Co)responsible for the design and execution of financial and content reporting towards the board, funders and stakeholders;
- managing the team: Leading a driven team from clear objectives and expectations for the benefit of the startup ecosystem.
You:
- have a bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent professional and intellectual ability.;
- have strategic and analytical skills;
- have experience in entrepreneurship and/or business;
- have affinity and experience with regional economic development;
- have affinity with (startup) entrepreneurship;
- are a serious discussion partner for (startup) entrepreneurs;
- have experience in leading an organization;
- have experience in a (ultimately) responsible management or board position;
- have experience in financial management of an organization;
- has a proactive and results-oriented attitude;
- have experience in setting up an organization;
- are a team player with good collaboration skills.

- a market-based salary depending on education and work experience with a maximum of €6,500 based on full time;
